Lancôme
Armand Petitjean (born 1884 in Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse in the Haute-Saône, died 1969) created the cosmetics brand Lancôme on 21 February 1935. The name Lancôme comes from the name of a château in central France. The actual name of the château is "château de Lancosme", and Mr Petitjean wanted an easily pronounceable name everywhere, so he removed the "s" from Lancosme to make it Lancôme. Petitjean had previously worked for François Coty, and started his line with five perfumes: Tendres Nuits, Bocages, Conquête, Kypre and Tropiques. Other fragrances are Magie (1950), Trésor (1952), Ô de Lancôme (1969), Trésor (1990, new version), Poème (1995), Miracle (2000) and Attraction (2003). Lancôme's most recent perfumes are: So Magic (2005), Hypnôse (2005), Eau de Printemps Sheer Trésor (2006), Miracle Forever (2006), Hypnôse Homme (2007), Hypnôse Sheer (2007), Trésor mousseux (2007), Trésor Elixir (2007), Hypnôse Homme Fresh (2008), Magnifique (2008), Hypnôse Homme Cologne (2009), Miracle Voyage Tendre (2009), Hypnôse Senses (2009), Trésor In Love (2010), Aroma Blue (2010), Ô d'Azur (2010) and La Vie est Belle.
