Grès
But who is Madame Grès? She began in 1934 under the name Alix. In 1935, she created the costumes for Jean Giraudoux's The Trojan War Will Not Take Place, which made her known as an artist, and her dresses appeared in Vogue Paris. Her art of draping was confirmed in the way she "sculpted" fabric directly on the model's body. It was in 1942 that she created her own fashion house and took the name Madame Grès (a pseudonym of her husband, a Russian artist she married in 1937, who signed his works "Grès"). A great name in haute couture, Madame Grès dressed the stars. Marlene Dietrich, Jackie Kennedy and the princely family of Monaco were very loyal to her. Today, the Grès brand is synonymous with Parfums Grès, an authentic perfume house thanks to essential creations such as Cabochard and Cabotine.
