Born in 1934, Giorgio Armani created his own brand in 1975 and signed a partnership with L'Oréal for perfumes in 1980. His first women's perfume Armani was created in 1982, followed two years later by Armani pour Homme. The designer went on to launch many other creations such as Gio and Acqua di Gio, whose men's version (1996) is today one of the best-selling perfumes in the world. Like his fashion, his perfumes are organised into several collections, such as Emporio Armani, the young, trendy line, and Armani Privé, the Haute Couture perfume line.
