CLARINS
The family company was founded by Jacques Courtin-Clarins in 1954. Jacques Courtin opened his first beauty treatment centre in the eighth arrondissement of Paris. It was there that Jacques Courtin also invented the cream that would make his name: Aminsvite. This plant-based oil was the first slimming cream, a true innovation. Pressed by his clients who wanted to take his products with them, he entered the perfume business in 1968, launching essential oils, some of which are still top sellers today. In the early 1970s, the company began expanding internationally, with its first exclusive agency contracts, helped notably by the arrival of Jacques Courtin's first son, Christian, in 1974. In 1980, as its subsidiaries expanded, Clarins became the leader in premium beauty care in France. In 1981, the first Clarins subsidiary was created, furthering its international expansion policy.
