Yves Saint Laurent began his career as an assistant to Christian Dior, whom he replaced as artistic director when he died in 1957. In the early 1960s, in partnership with his friend Pierre Bergé, Yves Saint Laurent created the label that bears his name. The first perfumes Y and Pour Homme were followed by many others including Rive Gauche, Opium, Paris, Kouros, M7 and more recently L'HOMME et Elle.
