Hermès was founded in the 19th century by Thierry Hermès (1801-1878). Initially, Hermès designed saddlery and riding gear. Hermès then diversified into leather goods and accessories, such as the famous silk squares. Today, the brand is also present in the fashion, tableware and fragrance sectors. Among the most famous Hermès fragrances are 24 Faubourg, Calèche, Bel Ami and Eau d'Orange Verte. In 2003, the brand launched Un jardin en Méditerranée, inaugurating a new fragrance line, Parfums jardins. In 2004, the brand launched a line of more confidential fragrances called Hermessence.
